New College Faculty, Staff Receive Welcome at Board Meeting
Oct. 3, 2019 鈥 During 蜜桃视频鈥檚 bi-monthly meeting on Oct. 1, there was standing room only as Dr. Dale McInnis, president of the College, introduced new faculty and staff members to the Board.
Seven of the 11 positions were newly created to maintain the College鈥檚 high level of student and faculty engagement while expanding course offerings for math, science, history, , , and , as well as the (EUSRT) program. New faculty hired by 蜜桃视频 are:
- Sebrina Cooper - math instructor - bachelor鈥檚 degree in Mathematics and Japanese and master鈥檚 in Mathematics from Utah State University
- Dr. Mary Anne Evans chemistry instructor - doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Birmingham, UK, and bachelor鈥檚 in Chemistry from the University of London
- Dr. Lori Frear - biology instructor - doctorate and master鈥檚 in Zoology/Physiology Science Education from N.C. State University and bachelor鈥檚 in Zoology from New York State University Oswego
- Dr. Alexander Yarbrough - history instructor - doctorate in History from New York State University of Buffalo and Sorbonne University and master鈥檚 in History from Sorbonne University
- Dr. Kevin Misenheimer - business administration - doctorate in Business Administration/Computer and Information Security from Northcentral University and master鈥檚 in Accounting from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Business Administration from Western Carolina University, and Organizational Management from Pfeiffer University
- Brian Goodman - cyber security instructor - associate degree in Computer Engineering from Sandhill鈥檚 Community College - former Associate Director with AT&T for 19 years
- Jason Felts - welding instructor - associate degree in Industrial Maintenance and welding certificate from 蜜桃视频 - former maintenance technician with Big Rock Sports and certified welder and fabricator for Ferro Fab
- Tammy Blanton - certified nursing instructor - bachelor鈥檚 in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University and associate鈥檚 in Nursing from 蜜桃视频
- Rolland Coulon - EUSRT instructor - master鈥檚 in Public Health Nutrition from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, bachelor鈥檚 in Biology and Chemistry from the University of North Carolina-Pembroke, and associate in EUSRT from 蜜桃视频
Additionally, a new Career Planner was hired and will be housed at Richmond Senior High School. Rhonda Singleton has a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Sociology from UNCP and was a Career Advisor for the N.C. Department of Commerce. She will assist every student at Richmond Senior High School in creating a career plan prior to the start of the second semester of his or her senior year.
A new counselor joined on the Hamlet campus. Melanie Baker has a master鈥檚 in Psychology from the University of Phoenix, bachelor鈥檚 in Psychology from UNCP, and an associate in Human Services from Sandhills Community College.
鈥淲e are excited to have these new faculty and staff members as part of our 蜜桃视频 family and the knowledge and experience they will bring to the College,鈥 McInnis said.
The Board of Trustees reviewed the status of the ongoing construction of the new cafeteria and expanded Student Services space at the Hamlet campus and the Kenneth and Claudia Robinette Building in downtown Rockingham. Additionally, the Board approved the request to submit the donation of the Covington Street Building as an expansion of the College鈥檚 Scotland County campus in Laurinburg. The college will host an open house on Nov. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. to celebrate the Scotland County campus and the new classes starting in January.
McInnis also extended an invitation for board members to attend on Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. at the Cole Auditorium on the Hamlet campus.
