Columbia City Ballet to Perform 鈥楾he Nutcracker鈥 at the Cole
Nov. 18, 2016 - The Columbia City Ballet will be performing holiday favorite, 鈥淭he Nutcracker,鈥 on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Cole Auditorium.
The second show in the Performing Arts Series, 鈥淭he Nutcracker鈥 will provide ballet-goers a magical performance with impeccable dancing, sweeping music and an elaborate set design.
鈥淭he Nutcracker鈥 is a two-act ballet based on the beloved story, 鈥淭he Nutcracker and the Mouse King,鈥 written in 1816 by E.T.A. Hoffmann, in which young Marie Stahlbaum's favorite Christmas toy, the Nutcracker, comes alive and, after defeating the evil Mouse King in battle, whisks her away to a magical kingdom populated by dolls.
The Columbia City Ballet is South Carolina's premier professional ballet company. It offers Southeastern audiences the highest quality ballet and provides dancers with some of the finest professional dance training.
Artistic and Executive Director William Starrett has transformed it into a professional company with 32 paid dancers and more than 2,000 seasoned members. Under the leadership of Starrett, Columbia City Ballet produces what critics have described as 鈥渟ome of the highest quality cultural entertainment in the Southeast.鈥
Ticket Information
Ticket price for 鈥淭he Nutcracker鈥 is $35 per seat. Season ticket packages are still available and range from $115 to $145 per seat and include reserved-seating tickets for the remaining five shows. Although individual show tickets may be available, purchasing season tickets affords patrons a large cost savings and guarantees seats for the shows.
鈥淥ur season ticket prices are cheaper than what you will find for comparable season line-ups in other cities in large part thanks to the support of the Carrie B. DeWitt family, who has help with financial support since the facility opened in 1999,鈥 Cole Auditorium Director Joey Bennett said.
