Automotive Technology

Hendrick Center architecture drawingThe Automotive Technology course will prepare you for a career as an automotive technician. It is a three-semester certificate program that provides comprehensive training that aligns with the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) standards A1-A8. The curriculum emphasizes diagnostic procedures, electrical and electronic systems, and modern vehicle technology. Throughout the program, a strong focus is placed on advanced troubleshooting, scan-tool usage, computer-based diagnostics, and interpreting system data to identify and correct automotive faults efficiently. Upon successful completion, graduates will demonstrate proficiency across all major ASE areas and possess the technical and analytical skills required in today's automotive service industry.

Students can enroll in any semester. 

2026 Fall Semester: Aug. 31 - Dec. 11

2027 Spring Semester: Jan. 19 - May 4

  • Engine Repair
  • Engine Performance
  • Automatic Transmission and Transaxle

2027 Summer Semester: June 1 - Aug. 6

  • Manual Drive Train and Axles
  • HVAC

Certifications

Upon completion, students will graduate with these certifications:

  • Mobile Air Climate Systems Association (MACS) - 609 Certification
  • NC State Inspection License
  • Automotive Lift Institute
  • Certified Automotive Information System (CAIS)

  • Have access to a computer or tablet

  • Attend two-day Introductory/Safety Training prior to start of class

Course Costs per Semester
